Following an investigation into a payment card breach impacting properties within the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) umbrella, the number of impacted locations has finally be revealed.
Between September 29, 2016 and December 29, 2016, malware infected point-of-sale devices at approximately 1,200 locations in 49 states, according to Data Breach Today.
In a news release on the matter, IHG highlights the investigation which featured an outside cybersecurity firm examining the payment card processes systems of the hotel locations.
“Although there is no evidence of unauthorized access to payment card data after December 29, 2016, confirmation that the malware was eradicated did not occur until the properties were investigated in February and March 2017,” the company said.
