A major flaw affecting iPhone 5s running iOS 6.1 allows an intruder to bypass the phone's passcode security feature, which is supposed to lock the device and protect stored data.
A YouTube user, who signed in as “videosdebarraquito,” demonstrated the iPhone “prank” via a video posted late last month.
To skip the passcode screen, where users normally enter a security code to unlock the phone, the hack involves a series of steps that includes making and quickly canceling emergency calls while acting to power down the phone.
This allows an intruder to unlock the phone. SCMagazine.com reached out to Apple regarding a fix for the issue, but did not immediately hear back.
An Apple spokesperson told Macworld, however, that the company was aware of the issue, and “will deliver a fix in a future software update."
