Microsoft looking into program-writing flaw

Microsoft said today it is investigating a publicly posted, proof-of-concept code exploiting a DoS vulnerability related to the ADODB.Connection.

ADODB is a Microsoft platform component that allows developers to write programs to access data, regardless of the database holding that information.

The bug affects Internet Explorer 6, according to a SecurityFocus advisory.

No further information was available on how the vulnerability works.

"Once we have completed the investigation and understand if there is a threat to customers, we will take the appropriate action to protect and provide guidance - as required," said a Microsoft Security Response Center blog post today.
