With New York City Cyber Command’s Monday launch of the NYC Secure app, New Yorkers will have the ability to identify mobile security threats and defend against them.
The mobile threat protection app, part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s NYC Secure initiative and funded by the city, adds a level of threat protection not previously available to personal mobile devices. Alerts are immediate, New York City Cyber Command said in a release, so threats can be detected without an internet connection.
The app was also engineered privacy in mind and doesn’t need to access personally identifiable information (PII).
