The identities of as many as 90 Major League Baseball players were discovered at the home of a "dumpster diver" in Illinois, according to published reports today.
David Dright, 38, was already facing 27 counts of identity theft when authorities discovered the personal information of players such as New York Mets outfielder Moises Alou and Chicago White Sox first baseman Jim Thome at his Lake County, Ill. home, The Associated Press reported.
According to authorities, Dright discovered the sensitive data, including Social Security numbers and birthdates, in trash bins outside well-known sports agency SFX Baseball, reports said.
An attorney for SFX, based in Northbrook, Ill., said it did not appear any of the players' identities were misused, according to published reports.
Police are contacting potential victims, reports said.
