As global organizations work to stay ahead of cyber attacks, they require information security analysts to help steer them through risk assessment, vulnerability assessment and defense planning. The role of information security analyst is growing and can provide a strong path for upward mobility.
What it takes
Since these roles are often mid-senior level, they require experience in threat and vulnerability management, in-depth knowledge of security policy and hands-on configuration of IT systems/security settings. At these levels, the expectation is an ability to conduct a thorough security assessment with an eye to prevent, detect, respond and recover from security incidents. Communication skills and the ability to discuss complex technical issues with both technical and non-technical people are critical.
Compensation
Base compensation will range from $80K-120K, often with additional incentives.
