The BYOD phenomenon has had one of, if not the biggest, impact on enterprise security today. Employees want to work from anywhere, at any time and access everything they need. While there are major benefits in developing a mobile strategy that allows for this, it also presents some immense challenges for security leaders.
So how far have we come and how much do we have to go? That’s a question no one can answer, but by keeping our attention on the habits of a younger workforce, it can prepare us for the challenges to come, according to Brian Egenrieder, chief revenue officer at SyncDog.
“As younger generations come into the workforce that have been on their devices their whole life, they’re starting to question some of those security practices,” Egenrieder told InfoSec Insider during a video interview shot at the RSA Conference. “The CISOs have to rectify that situation and create a user experience that the employees encourage to adhere to it, versus being burdened by it.”
It’s not that the younger is creating challenges, they’re just exposing, he adds.
In the full video interview below, Egenrieder discusses the current challenges that security leaders face when it comes to mobility in the enterprise and shares some important steps they can take to overcome them.
