We found it to be quite easy to install and configure. The suite itself consists of many components, of which the head is the Active Roles Server. Once all the components are installed, all administration is done through the console, which still has the same look and feel of a Microsoft Management Console, providing instant familiarity for administrators.
This solution is highly configurable and provides a great deal of flexibility for even the most complex environments. It can natively integrate with Windows, UNIX, Linux and Mac operating systems, as well as any OATH-compliant, one-time password product. It also provides solid workflow support.
Documentation includes several PDF installation and administrator guides that focus on specific components of the full suite. We found these guides to be well-organized and easy to follow with many screen shots and configuration examples.
Quest provides one year of basic support with the purchase of the product. Both extended and premium assistance are available at an additional cost as part of a support contract. Options include 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST phone and email support, as well as access to an online portal. The portal contains a knowledge base, as well as many other support resources.
At a price starting at about $38 per user for the whole suite, we find this product to be an excellent value for the money. The Quest One Identity Solution is truly that: the one identity solution. This product contains several great features and the flexibility to meet the needs of even some of the most complex environments.
