Vasco Digipass

Digipass encompasses some of the best features we found into one strong two-factor authentication product. Features start with intuitive policy-based user authentication. Digipass runs on Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) clients to allow remote VPN access for travelers with streamlined ease of administration. The product also supports multiple authentication environments allowing flexibility during existing and new configurations.

Digipass also can secure various applications, as well as websites containing sensitive data. With this product no integration is necessary and credentials are automatically gathered during first use resulting in minimal administration. Digipass is easily configurable and can be set up for responses when the token/ card is removed.

Digipass was simple to deploy and configure without a lot of assistance from the documentation. The product is intuitive and we performed policy configuration with ease. Setup is through a key setup procedure in Active Directory where a schema change is necessary before product deployment. Digipass administrative MMC Interface Policy Creator allows adding and configuring both individual components and backend servers.

Performance was good in our test environment without any major technical issues or software problems. The schema change in the Active Directory snap-in adds two tabs within the user accounts menu to assist in configuration. The SAS Management console provides easy configuration for terminal services, Windows, Web, Application and Citrix tabs where administrators can manage all logon permissions.

The documentation is laid out well. The table of contents is hot-linked and finding information is fast and easy. The manuals have made good use of screen shots of installation and configuration.
Digipass comes with fair support. The website has a knowledge base, but you need an ID number, as well as the serial number to be granted access. A download area offers drivers, plug-ins and documentation.

The price for end-users for Digipass Pack for Remote & Network Authentication starts at $690. We found this a bit pricey even though the functionality of this product is excellent.
