VASCO IDENTIKEY Authentication Server and DIGIPASS GO

VASCO IDENTIKEY Authentication Server and DIGIPASS GO in combination are a physical token-based authentication tool. They can be used as a one-time authentication and layered with a regular password as a multifactor authentication device. The purpose of the DIGIPASS GO is to provide a way to create security with the ease of hitting a button. IDENTIKEY is an authentication server that uses the token as a factor of authentication. IDENTIKEY allows for multiple types of authentication to be used at once. DIGIPASS GO is meant to protect logon, websites, banking and email signatures.

VASCO IDENTIKEY supports 32- and 64-bit operating systems and for small deployments and demos supports Windows Server 2003, 2008 and 2012 along with Windows 7. IDENTIKEY also works for Linux and other variants of the Linux distributions, as well as the growing virtualization field headed by VMware and Citrix. IDENTIKEY has centralized management, logging and reporting so that errors can be fixed from system administrators.

There are two main support plans: standard, which is eight-hours-a-day/five-days-a-week, and the 24/7 option. The standard choice costs seven percent with the minimum of $1,500, and the 24/7 costs 20 percent with a minimum of $15,000. The maintenance fee is roughly $1,200 per year per license for the server. There is free support. However, this simply consists of an online knowledge base.

Documentation was not provided as we received an initialized token fob to begin the testing. The online knowledge base consists of recently asked questions about popular issues that arise when setting up IDENTIKEY on servers and databases with the answers in a downloadable PDF that can be found online. The PDFs can be sorted by fields to further help searching for a solution.

The initial investment for 100 licenses to start using two-factor authentication will be around $7,700, with the initial investment being higher due to purchasing the DIGIPASS GO token key fobs. Once the initial configuration is completed, organizations that use the DIGIPASS GO only have to give the key fobs to employees who in turn only have to click a button to use the fob to obtain a one-time password. VASCO uses this as its major feature, as well as the capabilities to use the IDENTIKEY and DIGIPASS GO on newer cloud- based and virtualized systems.

If you are looking for an inexpensive solution for a multifactor authentication system, then the IDENTIKEY and DIGIPASS GO combo is a solution that should be considered. The DIGIPASS is simple, waterproof and, most importantly, does the job of multifactor authentication that the company claims it does. DIGIPASS GO devices on the same authentication server provides scalable and reliable high performance. The minimum requirements to run the server on which to deploy DIGIPASS GO are met by most computers.
