Barracuda Total Email Protection uses virus scanning, spam scoring, real-time intent analysis, URL link protection, reputation checks and advanced threat detection to protect on premise and cloud email. It integrates directly with inboxes to detect and respond to attacks that bypass the email gateway.
It is a bundle composed of three main product lines: Barracuda Essentials, Barracuda Sentinel and Barracuda PhishLine.
Barracuda Essentials is a gateway-based email security feature with its own setup wizard for easy configuration. Its message log houses all an organization’s inbound and outbound communications and supports both basic and complex search queries. Barracuda Cloud Control, a cloud-archiving service, ingests emails on a historical, end-to-end basis. And the Essentials interface offers visibility into many important organizational statistics, including email duplication, the availability of server size reduction and traffic analysis.
Barracuda Sentinel, a machine learning product that can work in conjunction with or independently of Essentials, uses Office 365 APIs and its machine learning capabilities to understand the nature of an organization’s communications. The Sentinel Bootstrapping graph shows individuals within an organization, their tone of communication and frequent correspondents, which serves as a baseline of normal, expected user behavior.
The Sentinel product line includes brand protection that alerts users of all unknown, approved and unapproved emails identified by DMARC. Sentinel has a user interface that allows admins to turn on DMARC, receive reports and categorize them based on legitimate or illegitimate senders. It also shows the top countries sending suspicious emails and the number of emails they send.
Barracuda Backup is one of the most unique aspects of this product. It enables the backup and storage of files from Office 365 as an added security measure. Backup schedules are configurable and accompany detailed reports of every backup and restore ever conducted.
Barracuda PhishLine, a security awareness training tool, guards against human error. PhishLine offers four main features: an address book that can specify which users will receive which trainings; schedulable campaigns; 1,000 pieces of usable campaign content; and results with thousands of tracked data points. Ideal forensic and incident response capabilities sufficiently balance the possibility of malicious infiltration with the desire to minimize false positives. Administrators can search flagged emails and act at the inbox or gateway level.
Pricing starts at $2.63 per month/user and includes 24/7 phone-based support. Premium and concierge support options are available.
