Most cybersecurity professionals know that a comprehensive, multi-layered defense is crucial. Each layer – from robust firewalls and intrusion detection systems to rigorous access controls, data backups, and user education – serves as a formidable line of defense, working in concert to identify and repel these insidious attacks. This CyberRisk Alliance Business Intelligence Report reflects how well that approach is working. Most of the 200-plus cybersecurity executives and professionals surveyed had not suffered a ransomware attack in the prior two years (at least that they were aware of). The 14% that did experience a hit were likely to move from containment to full recovery within weeks, rather than months or years. Despite these improvements, people worry about the role of artificial intelligence as adversaries use the technology to refine attacks. By fortifying their digital domains with multiple, complementary safeguards, organizations can build a resilient bastion capable of withstanding even the most relentless ransomware sieges.
