Much has been said about the loss of threat intel sharing that can come from the souring among infosec practitioners to the Elon Musk era of Twitter – a platform used extensively to disclose cyber incidents and to promote patching of critical vulnerabilities, among other things. The story of Maggie Amato, now business information security officer at Salesforce, serves as a troubling reminder of what women in cybersecurity – any industry – can experience when people of power fail to address or acknowledge hostile behavior in the workforce.

Said the CISO and VP of Trust at Reddit: "The internet felt like a space to explore. I wanted to protect and defend that. It felt like you needed to have a contingency plan for when things might go wrong.”

Said the chief business information security officer at Salesforce: "I really want to be able to help minority voices be heard. I want to champion other women because I feel I have seen quite possibly everything that you can see.”
