There are certain “must haves,” such as experience in network monitoring, testing and handling using host- and network-based intrusion detection systems. Certifications, such as Microsoft's MCSE or a CCNA, CCDA or CCIE, are in high demand.
CompensationThe compensation range for penetration testers is quite wide, anywhere from $50k to $95k based on the years of experience, geography and whether the position is in the public or private sector.
