Skills in demand

The Big Five and many “boutique” consulting firms have been gearing up to the avalanche of threats and attacks on their fortune 500 clients by hiring “cybersecurity consultants” to their team to consult on matters relating to security management, privacy management and privacy technology integration.

What it takes

There are certain “must haves” that include at least five years in IT security, two years of security engineering and a CISSP certification. Should haves include experience working with leading firewall, network scanning and intrusion detection products. As far as college, a BS in either computer science orinformation technology are the ways to go. Additional certifications including; CIH, CSSIP, CCNA, CISA & CISM can help in getting you more money,

Compensation

Compensation for computer forensics investigators range from $98k-$200k depending on it being a SR position or not and level of experience.
